Horstmann creates smart solution
for Jersey Electricity Company
Horstmann Controls has installed a comprehensive 'MeterLink'
smart metering and end-to-end control solution in three prestigious
housing projects in Jersey, Channel Islands.
Working closely with the Jersey Electricity Company, the MeterLink
installation covers two developments near the waterfront in
St. Helier - Century Buildings and Albert Pier - offering
a mixture of social housing and private accommodation. The
third development is at Les Petits Aumonts, in St. Lawrence.
The metering installations have been adapted to work within
the parameters of Jersey Electricity's 'Comfort Heat' domestic
central heating, water heating and power supply tariff.
Horstmann's MeterLink solution is a smart metering and control
system combining two-way communications via low voltage electricity
distribution networks. The MeterLink solution offers tariff
control, load control and token-less pre-payment.
Integral to the installations in Jersey are Horstmann Mainscom
smart meters, the Mainscom II version of which is installed
there for the first time. Mainscom II meters are remotely
programmable for pre-payment or credit metering modes. They
also provide for multi-rate and maximum demand tariffs in
addition to demand profiling and load control.
